Ghidra PowerPC Practice.
Do what almost nobody on the market can.
MapSwitch, code obfuscation, VIN protection, map transfer, Launch Control — solutions only a handful of people actually ship. You learn to build each one from scratch, on any control unit running the PowerPC processor (Freescale/NXP MPC5xx): find the CAN addresses, write the logic, embed it in the client’s ECU. A closed field — which is exactly why the price is premium. Survives OBD reads, software updates, and competitor download attempts.
Prerequisite · Ghidra PowerPC Fundamental or equivalent
Solutions the market needs.
Every project on real PowerPC firmware. A toolkit of solutions ready to sell to your clients.
Before you touch the ECU
Safety re-onboarding for Practice. Files, community access, the production mindset — what changes when your edits aren’t exercises anymore but services clients will pay for.
MapSwitch — program switching
The driver picks a program from the wheel or the cruise-control buttons, and the map set you embedded takes over. One engine, a dozen scenarios: power / highway economy / a custom fuel / a limiter for an inexperienced driver or winter / anti-theft / a service mode. You decide which maps sit behind which program — the client gets a car that changes character on demand.
CAN architecture and RAM address finding
Nobody hands you the RAM address — a DBC table or somebody else’s solution gives you the signal and its bit inside the message, not where that message lands in memory. You walk the chain yourself: CAN ID in Flash, then the RAM address where the frame data actually lands, down to the bit the status is read from. This is the read side of the bus — what makes MapSwitch, launch control and VIN binding work on a car nobody mapped for you. Work out one ECU and the next one from the same make repeats almost unchanged.
Map coding — obfuscation
You scramble your work inside the firmware so a competitor analyzing the file can’t cheaply read it and copy it. This is the security of your solution: you built it, nobody lifts it off you. This is the light layer here — deep protection is covered in Mastery.
Map transfer
You move a map out of the calibration block into the code area. Three wins at once: an ordinary scanner reads only calibrations, so it never sees your change and can’t copy it; a dealer updates the calibration block and your tune survives; the modification stays invisible to standard inspection tools. Your work sits where almost nobody looks.
Code protect VIN
The last 4 digits of the VIN are checked once at boot through a 3-state RAM flag. The ECU locks to one specific car — a copied file simply won’t run on another vehicle. You can hand over everything wide open and it still can’t be cloned.
Launch control
Holds engine RPM with the brake pressed, launches hard the moment you release it — on a car that never had it from the factory. You add the launch logic without disturbing the rest of the calibration, so the tune underneath stays clean. Understand the mechanism and you repeat it on any car, petrol or diesel.
Preparing for certification
Final review and 2-stage PowerPC RE certification exam. Pass and your name appears on certifiedtuners.com — the public registry clients use to find reverse engineers.
The Practice mindset
Your modification is a product, not a hack.
Most reverse engineering courses stop at “you can change a value.” Practice teaches what every commercial tuner works out alone: how to make a modification worth selling — one that’s hard to steal and impossible to revert. MapSwitch, VIN protection, code obfuscation, map transfer — every project leaves your workshop for a client’s hands. It’s your intellectual property: you build it so the file can’t be copied, taken apart, or reproduced — nobody sees what you did, and nobody learns from your work. That’s your security.
Premium solutions. Premium prices.
One MapSwitch implementation: €200-€400. One VIN protection setup: €300-€500. One custom solution (launch control, code obfuscation): €500-€1,500.
These aren’t one-time projects. Every client with a new ECU becomes a repeat customer — because you’re one of the few who can do the work at all.
The course recovers in 4 to 8 paid jobs. From there, every project is pure margin in a market with almost no competition. On commercial and fleet ECUs — trucks, agri, marine — the ceiling runs higher.
Everything to ship your first paid production solution.
- Hands-on projects on real production firmware from PowerPC-based ECUs — actual binaries, not simulated dumps.
- MapSwitch — program switching — the driver picks a program, your embedded map set takes over.
- CAN architecture and RAM address finding — locate button, pedal and RPM state in RAM, down to the bit. The read side that makes MapSwitch, launch control and VIN binding work on an ECU nobody mapped for you.
- Code obfuscation — scramble your work so a competitor can’t cheaply read or copy it. The light protection layer; deep protection is Mastery.
- VIN binding — 3-state RAM flag preventing file cloning. The ECU locks to one specific car.
- Map transfer — hide modifications from OBD readers. Survives standard firmware updates and roadside inspection.
- Launch control — hold RPM on the brake, hard launch on release, on a car that never had it from the factory.
- Lifetime access + advanced mentor feedback on production projects + community support (Telegram + forum).

Before you enroll
Do I need Ghidra Fundamental before Practice?
Yes. Practice assumes you can already navigate Ghidra, read PowerPC assembly, follow code flow, and track registers from Fundamental. Without that base, the production projects won’t make sense. If you haven’t taken Fundamental, the Essentials bundle (F+P) costs €3,100 — saves €560 vs separate enrollment.
What production solutions will I build?
The solutions clients pay for: MapSwitch (program switching — the driver picks a program, your map set takes over), code obfuscation (scramble your work so a competitor can’t cheaply copy it), VIN binding (file locks to one car), map transfer (modifications invisible to OBD readers), and launch control (hold RPM on the brake, hard launch on release). Plus CAN architecture and RAM address finding — the read side that locates button, pedal and RPM state in RAM on an ECU nobody mapped for you.
What are these solutions worth to clients?
One MapSwitch implementation: €200-€400. One VIN protection setup: €300-€500. One custom solution (launch control, code obfuscation): €500-€1,500. The course recovers in 4-8 paid jobs. Every client with a new ECU becomes a repeat customer — because you’re one of the few who can do the work at all.
What ECU files do I work with?
Real production firmware from PowerPC-based ECUs — actual binaries, not simulated dumps. Because the solutions are written against the Freescale/NXP PowerPC processor itself, the same methodology carries to any control unit built on it — Siemens/Continental SID, Delphi DCM6.x, Denso truck ECUs — whatever the manufacturer.
How long does Ghidra Practice take?
About 5–6 weeks at ~1 hour per day. Self-paced with lifetime access. Most Practice students sell their first MapSwitch or VIN-bound file before finishing the course.
Take Practice as part of a bundle.
Fundamental + Practice together is €560 cheaper than separately. Fundamental + Practice + Mastery saves €1,630.
Open a real ECU. Embed a solution worth paying for.
5–6 weeks. Production-grade solutions clients pay €500–€1,500 each for.
